Opened as Vihiga District Hospital
The hospital opened its doors to the public under the Ministry of Health to serve the population of the former Vihiga District.
Renamed Vihiga County Referral Hospital
After health services were devolved to county governments in Kenya, the hospital was renamed and transferred to the County Government of Vihiga.
